Pumpkin Patch

Today we took a break from the campaign trail(s) (Phil and his mom did walk another precinct) and we went to the pumpkin patch. Things have changed since we were kids. It used to be you grabbed the best pumpkin out of the bin outside Alpha Beta for like $5. Now you can’t get a modest pumpkin for under $20, but there is pony rides, petting zoo, and rides.
We discovered Miller doesn’t like hay, so scratch farming off his list of things he might be when he grows up. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes. We commented that next year we won’t get in and out in less than 30 minutes or less than $20.

In the thick of it.....

It is campaign season and we are slammed. We are working day and night to get things done. I had to hire a babysitter during the day. Everyone is happier. Miller is that age that he just wants to play and laugh and can’t accommodate his schedule and a pile of clients.

Phil’s campaign is coming along great. He was endorsed by the Republican Party of Riverside County and the BIA. These are probably the two most influential political groups in Riverside Republican politics. I am just enormously proud of him and how hard he is working.
Friday night is Jon’s wedding and we are really looking forward to seeing all of our friends and a night W.O.M. So until I get another 5 mins until Nov. 8th I will fill you in, but until then….TTFN.

Hitched

Today is my 6th Wedding Anniversary. Phil and I were married on August 12, 2000 in front of 250 guests at 4:30 in the afternoon and in 115 heat in a church without air conditioning. Many of our friends refer to that weekend as the Great Wedding Death March of Southern California. Happy Anniversary Sweetie. It has been a wonderful six years and I look forward to sixty more.XO (Happy Anniversary to Jeff and Jill t00)

Bravery

I had a brave day. I am really trying to get into the mom’s club thing. For Miller’s sake. On the surface, I don’t think I have a lot in common with the other mommies. I am older and I work. It is a group to support non-working moms. However, I want Miller to be exposed to more than Reebar, Bones and me. He needs to PLAY. I was brave to go and I will continue to go. The bravery didn’t end there. I recognized one of mommies at the gym that afternoon and invited her to go to the yoga class with me. This was brave because I suck at yoga. We bonded and I am glad I was brave.

Sending out an SOS?

It has been forever since I last posted. What a couple of weeks. We had Phil's first Father's Day which was great. Miller went for a swim at my folks and then we had some BBQ. Phil made a firm decision to run for Eastern Municipal Water District...which is great! This is something he has been thinking about for almost a year. We are raising money and plotting and scheming campaign strategy.

Work has been nuts. But a good nuts. We have a handful of clients for the fall cycle. All really good folks that are fun to work with. I have a couple of events that I am getting off the ground before we leave for vacation!!! One entire week on the road visiting our friend Jeff in Wisconsin and the Webers in Minnesota. Stop off at a couple of state capitols, universities, and scrapbook stores, and it is a full on PARTY. We can't wait to see how Miller does on the road.

Glorious

This is a glorious thing. One bar on the baby monitor in my office lit up. That means he is sound asleep. The slightest peep lights up the entire device, but for now he is fast asleep.

Kind of a busy day for me. I have an event this evening and after that we are meeting with a client. I need to get Mr. Peepers ready for his babysitter and not to mention myself. I am looking forward to seeing old friends tomorrow night and we will ask the question, “Who Among Us”…….

Signs of Summer

Don’t you love the beginning of summer and getting your pair of summer sandals? If you are like me by the time you go back to school you have broken or ripped a strap and completely worn them out; a good sign that the summer was a success. They would see you to the pool, Disneyland, games of tag, and ice cream drips.

These are my summer sandals from last year. I bought them at the Liz Claiborne Outlet Store in Lake Elsinore. I love them. They are a little hippie for me, but I love them. That blue smug above my left toe is the shade of blue that I painted Miller’s bathroom in March. They were the only shoes I could wear towards the end of my pregnancy. I am on the lookout for my sandals for this year, but no luck. These may have to last two summers.

Mom's Birthday Weekend

We had a great weekend celebrating my mom's B-Day. Debi and Scott came down from Sacramento to surprise her for the weekend. They had fun playing with the baby and going through old home movies of thier childhood.

The great news we learned is that my cousin Keri has decided to pursue a nursing career. She has found her calling after caring for her late husband during his battle with cancer. She is so excited about the prospect of having a meaningful job that she can really help patients and families needing her gifts and talents.

We also went out to Victorville to crash a (sort-of) family reunion. Miller got to meet Ron, Lynne, Keith, Misty, Dori, Roger, Kevin, Jonathan, Jeffery, Dorothy, David, Dana, Doug, and Pam (and many, many more).

We are off to OC for a doctors appointment. TTFN.
